How Photography Saved My Life...

SO WHAT HAPPENED?

On November 8th, 2021

Life took a turn for the worst.

It was a very sunny afternoon, but the sun wasn't shining that day.

At least for me, it wasn't….

A build-up of constant events coming from every direction at one time and not knowing how to handle it all at once.

As I was driving home, The tears began to pour heavy.

I started crying out and saying sorry to everyone that I loved.

Today was the day I was dying, and nothing couldn't stop me at that moment.

I don't even remember falling to the floor, but I remember waking up gasping for air and seeing a flash of light…..

God brought me back to life, and I genuinely believe that.

Surviving a suicide attempt is a blessing in disguise. You challenged death and beat it. But you're still alive? How?

God, maybe? The universe? Or whatever you want to believe in.

GOD KNOWS WHEN IT’S YOUR TIME

After surviving my attempt, I went to work. Crazy, I know, right?

But I believe that I needed to be around people or someone.

I checked into a behavioral facility for 48 to 72 hours, which is worse than what you see on tv or in the movies.

I began to reflect hard on my life and think to myself. 'Why did you do that?" "Look at this place. You don't belong here."

It was a constant reminder that I would've hurt so many people that day, so now, what's the next step to getting better mentally?

  • I started writing down my thoughts and goals in a journal

  • Going outside in nature more

  • Taking long car rides while listening to my favorite music

  • Digging deeper into my creative side for photography or content in general.

FOCUS ON SOMETHING BIGGER THAN YOURSELF

I was already doing photography before the attempt. I took this picture just a couple of days before the attempt(the picture above).

Honestly, I just didn't think it was something I could pursue as a business for myself. Especially with me just using my iphone for everything.

After being diagnosed with major depressive disorder, I thought, "the only time you're happy, and nothing else matters at the moment to you is doing photography, and that's where your focus should go."

Photography saved my life by giving me the feeling of being expressive through my work and being at peace within myself.

Creating whatever comes to mind and being happy about that.

I'm able to take my mind off negative things going on around me or even negative thoughts.

We all have to find SOMETHING in this life that gives us a sense of peace and balance within ourselves.

HOW’S LIFE NOW?

After coming up on almost a year now,

I feel like I've gotten a whole lot better mentally. I have been able to really dig into my creative side since then even more.

I've been given opportunities to use my skills with my iPhone 12 to create memories for friends, family, and including myself.

An idea that I had for years now; I finally started acting on it.

*hint hint*:

I truly believe in this brand, and I stand by that!

I'm grateful that I got a second chance at life because I could find my purpose in life.

With this brand album93, I can create memories for myself, family, friends, or anyone else who would love to be a part of the brand.

No matter how dark and isolating things can feel, we're not the only ones to feel as we do. Many people live with depression but never speak about it to anyone, and there are things we can do to try and help that. We are not alone.

Please help others and share this post; you never know who might need it.
